The National Art Honor Society, Advanced Placement and Cambridge Art & Design students are pleased to announce their annual exhibition at the Art and Culture Center/Hollywood. This exhibition of nearly fifty pieces of art work, including drawings, paintings have named the exhibition Unconscious Realism.
Through visually recalling their own dreams and digging deep into their own unconscious minds, students have created the images in the exhibition that include portraits, landscapes, and more. Most students found this years’ theme challenging, yet fascinating. The Surrealist movement took place in the 1920’s and featured iconic artist such as Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, and Frida Kahlo. Major characteristics of the movement included the unconscious, the irrational, and fantasy. Surrealists believed that dreams united humanity, so join the students and take a look into the subconscious.
