Opening Reception for Fractured Landscapes and Cloning the Ghost

The exhibitions Fractured Landscapes with Cara Despain and Emanuel Tovar, and Cloning the Ghost by Javier Barrios opened on Saturday, March 21, 2021, at the Center galleries. All three artists were present and guests were able to mingle and meet the artists and discuss their work and experiences.

The reception featured a live performance of Emanuel Tovar’s Las Huellas del Vacío, a floor piece comprised of over 1,000 pounds of coal placed in a seven-meter diameter circle. The installation was activated by a performer, Ana Mendez, who manipulated corn dough into figural molds, reflecting on human labor and cracking social systems.

The exhibitions continue through May 16, 2021. For more information on Fractured Landscapes click here . For more information on Cloning the Ghost click here
