Open Art Dialogues
Saturday, February 8 - Sunday, May 17, 2020
Open Art Dialogues consists of a series of targeted activities in 2019-20 within the Center’s multi-disciplinary programming that are inclusive of artists, issues and narratives within the LGBTQ community in Hollywood and throughout Broward County. This will consist of the following, though additional activities will be considered as the project continues:
An LGBTQ-sensitivity training for Center staff members with a specialist from the Broward-based service organization SunServe.
A site-specific, commissioned visual-arts exhibition that features a video documentary based on inclusion and acceptance stories from Broward LGBTQ individuals and couples. The exhibition will open with a reception on Feb. 8 and close on May 15, 2020. The Center is partnering with the Stonewall National Museum & Archives and other LGBTQ community groups for this original artwork.
A free Pride Celebration concert by the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida at the 500-seat Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center. The concert will be presented as part of the Chorus’s 10-year anniversary and each attendee will receive a Pride/Ally-themed mini-flag and a complimentary gallery pass.
Support for Open Art Dialogues was provided by the following Funds at the Community Foundation of Broward: Richard Frisby and Edward Burkhart Fund, Leonard and Sally Robbins Fund, Frederick W. Jaqua Fund, and James Bell-Greenbaum Charitable Fund.
