Director of Education

Responsible For: This position assumes a leadership role in the development and implementation of the Center’s educational outreach and fee-based programs and oversees the daily operation of the education department and staff. The Director of Education is a member of the Center’s leadership team and contributes to both the education department and organization-wide planning, goal setting, and policy direction, including expansion of the Center’s education facilities.

Type: Full-time, salaried. $40,000-$55,000 based on qualifications and experience. 40 hours a week. Some flexible scheduling with evening and weekend hours necessary. Health and paid time off benefits available for this position

Reports to: Executive Director

Primary Function

This position provides the vision, strategic direction, and leadership to ensure all education programs are executed with the highest standard. Programs include classes, after school programs, school partnerships, Distance Learning, student gallery, camps, workshops, group tours, community events and other special projects. Creates integrated curriculum for new and existing programs. Primary to this role is the creation, development and ongoing management of all current and future educational programs and the staff and volunteers within this area

Candidate Requirements

Candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in education, early education, elementary education, educational arts management, educational leadership, or other related field and a minimum of five years of experience working with education, preK-12 curriculum development and instructional supervision. Enthusiastic, patient, and flexible leadership style is required. Advanced knowledge about current educational practices, multiple learning styles, state and national standards is required. Classroom teaching experience is required. Experience integrating programs in more than one arts discipline is greatly desired. Previous experience with Distance Learning or knowledge of advanced technology would be a plus. The candidate will work directly with children and families, so a strong sense of initiative, commitment, responsibility, dependability and creativity is required. The candidate should work well as part of a team and also be self-directed. Exceptional communication, problem solving, attention to detail, and diplomacy skills required. Excellent organizational and administrative skills as well as an ability to work well with the public is necessary. Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google platforms, as well as computer operating systems is required. The candidate must be able to work flexible evenings and weekends related to their area of programming. Level 2 background check and Department of Children and Families clearance is required.

Liaison with: Art and Culture Center/Hollywood (ACCH) administrators and staff, students, parents, teachers, artists, the general public and other organizations.

Reports to: Director of Education

Administrative and Development Coordinator

Responsible For: Office management, administrative and development functions

Liaison With: ACCH staff and management, general public, Board of Trustees volunteers, vendors

Duties and Responsibilities

Candidate Requirements

Candidate must possess a minimum of an Associate’s degree (Bachelor’s preferred) in communications, business administration or other related field, and a minimum of three years experience in office administration. The candidate should possess proficiencies in word processing, efficient filing systems, Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint. As the candidate will work directly with Executive staff, Board, and the public, a strong sense of business decorum and excellent professional communication skills (written and oral) are required. The candidate must be able to work evenings and weekends for events/activities that relate to their area of responsibility. Also, the person must work well as part of an overall team and also be self-directed. The candidate must have excellent organizational and administrative skills as well as take initiative and possess the ability to work well under deadlines.

Salary and Benefits:

Full-time with benefits; Occasional evening/weekend hours for events and/or meetings.  Relocation expenses will not be reimbursed. Range $30,000 to $40,000.

PART-TIME STAFF POSITIONS

Instructional Designer

Responsible For: Research, design, and development of innovative PreK-12 learning lessons that support the Distance Learning programming

Position Type: Contracted, project-based

Schedule: Flexible

Reports to: Director of Education and works with the Education Department

Primary Function

With direction from Center staff, designs and develops instructionally sound, fully integrated curriculum and learning materials for specialty educational programming. Lessons will integrate the arts with core subjects and will follow appropriate age-based learning standards.

Candidate Requirements

Candidate must have experience designing educational lessons and working with interdisciplinary education. Interest in technology and interactive learning experiences will be of benefit. Classroom teaching experience also a plus. A Bachelor’s or advanced degree preferred. The candidate must have excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to meet timelines and specific goals.

Maintenance and Custodial Associate

Location: Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center (HC-PAC) and Art and Culture Center/Hollywood (ACCH)

Responsible For: Maintaining and cleaning HC-PAC weekly. Assist with the maintenance and upkeep of ACCH facility and storage areas, as needed.

Salary Range: $10.00-$12.00 per hour. No guaranteed hours, but usually range from 6-20 hours per week. Flexible schedule as needed. Primarily afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Reports To: Manager of Theater Operations and Events. Department supervision by Deputy Director

Duties

Under general oversight by the theater manager, it is the role of the Maintenance and Custodial Associate to follow daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules at HC-PAC including, but not limited to office areas, bathrooms, storage areas, classrooms, kitchen, patio, lobby/café, technical booth, stage, entrance way, arts school, and exhibition galleries. The custodian will also be responsible for performing additional maintenance duties such as general building and grounds oversight, small repair jobs and other duties as needed.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of custodial duties. Previous experience greatly desired. The candidate should work well as part of a team and also be self-directed, punctual, dependable, and willing to learn the specific custodial standards for each commercial facility. The candidate must have excellent time management, organizational skills, be detail oriented, as well as possess an ability to work well with others. Must be able to pass a background check.
