Grisel Ors: Out of the Woods - Into the Tropics

April 9 – May 29, 2016
Opening Reception: Friday, April 8,
6 – 9 pm

Hollywood resident Grisel Ors considers herself a self-taught “experimental abstract expressionist” painter. Her process is guided by an intuitive use of color, textures, layered glazes and collaged materials that are applied to organic cotton canvas, often allowing its frayed edges to remain. She says, “Mystery is a quality I engage with most in my art. When I try to control a painting, it takes a life of its own, it confronts me and controls me.” Ors’ recent exhibitions include Becket Arts Center, in Becket, MA, and Kelley Roy Gallery in Newtown, CT.
