Elaine Defibaugh was born in New Castle, PA, and has lived and worked in Miami, FL

since 2014. Elaine received her BFA from Texas A&M Commerce in 1987 and received

her MFA from RIT in 1989. Defibaugh’s work is inspired by the transitional world that we experience, particularly the relationship between natural and man-made environments, with the goal to invite viewers into a dimension that goes beyond 2D and into complex 4D worlds that includes visual layers, textural stories, and an exploration of our environment in the hopes of

sparking conversation around conversation.

Recent solo exhibitions include “Coral on the Verge,” Coconut Grove Art Festival Gallery and “Science & Nature,” Frost Museum of Science. Defibaugh has been included in numerous group exhibitions at the Art & Culture Center of Hollywood, Swamp Space in Miami, FL, and the Gwanaghwamun International Art Festival in Seoul, South Korea. Defibaugh received 2 Pollock-Krasner Grants and has had residencies at a variety of different places, as well as being a part of multiple private collections.
