Karen Starosta-Gilinski: Cloud 9

Karen Starosta-Gilinski is a contemporary artist that takes provocative textured objects and alters them; she starts to break them apart or cut open a plush toy and put it together with another object until it becomes visually satisfying and strong enough to express the unique look of a character or situation. The results are whimsical, humorous, and at times unsettling works of art.

The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood is very pleased to present its third exhibition of the work of New York-based artist Nathan Sawaya. In the 2012 exhibition of The Art of The Brick, Sawaya will present a selection of new works not seen previously at the Center.
Moira Holohan

Moira Holohan’s practice focuses on experimentation through layering of several media; assemblage, video animation, and collage. She will be presenting animated video works inspired by the four classic elements of nature: earth, air, water, and fire.
Philip Estlund: Subprime/Subtropics

Subprime-Subtropics is Phillip Estlund’s first solo exhibition in Broward County. The Lake Worth-based contemporary visual artist will exhibit sculptures and two-dimensional collages that inhabit the psychological and physical terrain left behind by man-made and natural disasters.
John DeFaro: Trawler

“Trawler” is the name given to a boat or vessel used for trawling. John DeFaro’s site specific installation will combine activism and environmental concerns with visual art as a communicator.
Christina Pettersson: The Sentinel

Christina Pettersson’s drawings examine the self not as one lives it, but as one’s imagination creates it. The Sentinel will focus on Florida as a tropical locale that is almost always remaking itself through what she calls “the alluring mystery of faraway places.”
Abracadabra: Fifth Annual Exhibition and Fund-raising Raffle

Abracadabra Raffle Event Friday, March 9th
Now in its fifth year, this exhibition and fund-raiser is comprised of approximately 100 donated works in all media by artists who have been invited to participate. Abracadabra culminates with a live raffle of these outstanding art works in the main gallery. All works are exhibited prior to the evening of the raffle, affording ticket buyers an opportunity to preview the art before the main event!
