“Brilliantly staged…Ingenious theatre.” – The Wall Street Journal

“Engrossing, highly imaginative.” – Chicago Sun-Times

Acclaimed playwright/actress Donna Blue Lachman brings to life The Trouble With Peggy: Pieces of Guggenheim, a drama about heiress and art collector Peggy Guggenheim. Hailed as a smash hit by critics, this 90-minute show transports audiences back in time to Bohemian France, the expulsion of leading modern artists from Europe by the Nazis, and to New York City in the 1950s. Audiences are transfixed with its intelligent writing and Lachman’s engrossing performance. Lachman, the teacher, director and co-founder of Chicago’s Blue Rider Theatre, spent three years researching and writing this play. She visited Venice, spoke to Guggenheim’s grandchildren, and consulted art experts in order to bring to the stage important ideas as well as an entertaining story.
