Stephan Tugrul: En Masse
Sept. 11, 2010 – Jan. 9, 2011
Opening Reception: Fri., Sept. 10, 6-9 pm
Live musical performance at the opening reception by Richard Vergez.
En Masse presents a selection of new works by Turkish-American, North Miami-based artist Stephan Tugrul. Working with collage, he constructs new images through a process of combining found elements appropriated from a variety of source materials. The results are a visual choreography, generating curious scenarios which make it possible to look again. This engagement with the raucous imagery of popular culture questions the power of images and the way they circulate within everyday life.
Conversation with the artist moderated by arts writer Anne Tschida
