Patrick DeCastro: Quand le Soleil Brille
Sept. 11 – Nov. 7, 2010
Opening Reception: Fri., Sept. 10, 6-9 pm
Live musical performance at the opening reception by Richard Vergez.
Quand le Soleil Brille features a selection of works in mixed media by Haitian artist Patrick DeCastro. In his work, DeCastro attempts to share the distinctive world of his personal experience with Haitian vaudou and New York high fashion. He has chosen to live between a life of privilege in a fortunate Haitian family and that of a working class immigrant out of his love for the arts. DeCastro, thus, has a canvas from which to describe the vast panorama between pain and joy inherent in these two different worlds.
