Fri, July 14, 2006, 8:30 pm Buy
J.P. Soars & Gypsy Blue is a four piece band from Fort Lauderdale, FL dedicated to playing and preserving the timeless music known as Gypsy Jazz, which was made popular in the 1930s and 1940s by the famous and influential Belgium born gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt (1910-1953). (To learn more about Django go to djangobooks.com) The band consists of 3 acoustic guitars and an upright bass. “Our goal is to audibly transport the listener to another place and time and to bring this great music to people who may not to be familiar with it. It’s very fun, exciting, and challenging music and the music swings like crazy.” A great Neo-Jazz retro-band that has a large appeal to the younger generation and also appeals to the swing generation.
