OceanDance 2005

Fri, Dec 30, 2005, 8 pm – FREE
Sat, Dec 31, 2005, 9:30 pm – FREE

The tradition of OceanDance, now in its 7th year, continues with this free dance performance on Hollywood Beach. This year’s event will feature the critically acclaimed Urban Ballet Theater (UBT), which uses ballet to express contemporary issues and is known for combining inner-city influences with a mix of classical and contemporary dance styles.

As a special tribute to the great city of New Orleans, the performance will include special appearances by New Orleans-based artists Shaka Zulu of the Zulu Connection and Michelle Gibson. The artists will perform with UBT excerpts from “The Kid from Elysian Fields.” This powerful and festive piece recreates the energy and flavor of New Orleans. T-shirts will be sold to raise funds to benefit the Southern Arts Federation Emergency Relief Fund, which was created to assist artists and arts organizations affected by the recent hurricanes. Bring your beach chair or blanket and celebrate dance with us under the stars amid the swaying palms and tropical breezes.

A VIP package will be available for sale on both nights of OceanDance. Guests will enjoy reserved parking, complimentary cocktails from the open bar while seated at a table on the beachside deck. At midnight on the New Year’s Eve, the sky will be aglow with fireworks as everyone in the VIP area will receive party favors and a glass of champagne to ring in the New Year.

On Dec. 30th and 31st, the VIP area opens at 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. respectively. VIP seating costs are as follows:
