Multi Colored Cultural Collage
Friday, January 26, 2018
9:30 am – 10:15 am
Grade: Upper Elementary – Middle School
The purpose of this lesson is to teach students about the social and political need for United Nations. Primary focus will be placed on humanitarian works and the importance of the concepts of knowing about, understanding, and identifying with other people in the world while caring about their needs. These concepts will be implicit in the creation of a multicolored assemblage of world geography on a heart-shaped ground.
This lesson will teach students how to create a work of art concerning empathy and identity. Students will relate the their prior knowledge of attending school and coexisting with children from different cultures, as well as to infer that we are all more or less the same through our humanity. Students will adapt these ideas into an artful collage with meaning.
