Louise Nevelson: Selections from the Farnsworth Art Museum

December 18, 2004 – February 13, 2005

Louise Nevelson: Selections from the Farnsworth Art Museum presents 37 works from the Farnsworth Art Museum’s collection. The exhibition traces the full span of the artist’s career, from her student days at the Art Students League to her emergence as an artist of national stature. Louise Nevelson (1899 – 1988) has been called “the most celebrated female sculptor in the history of American modernism” and whose works can be found in almost every major museum collection in Europe and America. The Farnsworth Museum is the second largest collection of Nevelson’s work to the Whitney Museum in New York City.
