BRICK Creation Challenge

The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood is pleased to announce, in conjunction with its Nathan Sawaya: The Art of the Brick exhibition (June 7th through August 10th 2008), its’ BRICK Creation Challenge.

All South Florida residents ages 6 and older, are invited to use their own LEGO® pieces to create and compete in this exciting community-based exhibition. Pieces will be displayed in the Center’s gallery and each participating group of entrants will be awarded prizes according to the contest’s categories. This promises to be a fun-filled event for the general public to engage and participate in this unique exhibition.

BRICK Creation Challenge Rules
  • Use your own LEGO® bricks and elements to build an original creation at home. Then bring it to the Center for display and judging.
  • Use only genuine LEGO® bricks, elements, and pieces. Constructions made from specialty themed LEGO® kits not eligible.
  • Designs and constructions must be original.
  • Contestants not permitted any outside help from parents or advisors unless entering together on the team category. (Families are encouraged to enter as a team.)
  • You may enter only one creation per person or team. Individuals may enter as individual and as a team member.
  • Piece not to exceed 36 × 36 × 36 inches.
  • Creations must be brought to the Center secured (no loose parts) and ready to be displayed. No construction will be permitted on site. Supporting platforms are allowed if necessary. Pieces may be reinforced with glue/adhesive for added security if so desired.
  • All pieces must be accompanied by a fully completed official registration form. Forms are available at www.ArtAndCultureCenter.org and at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood.
  • Pre-registration form must be submitted by July 23, 2008.
Other General Rules and Guidelines

By entering the contest, all participants and/or their legal guardians agree to release the contest sponsors and the Art and Culture Center of all liability that could result from participating in the contest, attending the event, or the awarding of the contest prizes. The contest, and all participants may be photographed and videotaped. By submitting an entry into this contest, entrants and their parents/guardians hereby grant permission to the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood and sponsors to use any photographs and/or videos of the entrant or the entrant’s submitted model, for any promotional use.

The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood and/or any sponsors or agents are not responsible for any lost, late, damaged, destroyed, illegible, incomplete entries.

The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood‘s BRICK Creation Challenge awards presentation and public reception is open to the first 50 entries on a first come basis. More than 50 entries may be accepted, depending upon space permitting. BRICK Creation entries must be delivered in person to the Art and Culture Center, 1650 Harrison Street, Hollywood, FL 33020, on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 pm. All accepted entries will be on display in the Center’s Galleries from Friday, August 8th through Sunday, August 10th.

Contestant and a guest (for underage contestants it would be a parent and/or guardian) will receive complimentary admission to the Center during the BRICK Creation Challenge awards reception, Sunday, August 10th. All others wishing to attend this special exhibition/event will be charged regular admission fees.

The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood‘s BRICK Creation Challenge awards presentation and public reception will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2008, commencing at 1 pm. The decisions of the contest judges are final. BRICK Creation entries must be removed and picked up from the Center’s Gallery between 5 and 7 pm on Sunday, August 10th.

By submitting an entry form and piece into this contest, entrants and their parents/guardians agree to these official rules and regulations and the decisions of the judges.

The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood’s BRICK Creation Challenge is not sponsored nor affiliated in anyway with artist Nathan Sawaya or the LEGO® corporation. LEGO® is the registered trademark of the LEGO Group.
