Gallery Supervisor/Tour Guide

Temporary Summer Part-time Position, Hourly ($9.00 per hour)

This is a part-time position to last the 10 weeks of the Nathan Sawaya “Art of the Brick” show which is an exhibition of internationally recognized artist Nathan Sawaya’s original LEGO® sculptures.

Exhibition Period: June 9 – August 19, 2012

Hours: Monday through Sat. 9:45am – 5:15pm Sun. 11:45 – 5:15pm (this position will be split into two shifts to be divided between two qualified individuals — exact days to be worked to be determined)

Responsible For: This is a “kid-friendly” show, during which the Center expects to have very high numbers of attendance. The safety of all visitors to the show, as well as all staff and volunteers in addition to the works in the show is of the utmost importance. Overseeing the Center’s gallery areas; responding to and booking field trips requests in a timely fashion; overseeing “gallery monitor” volunteer staff, ensuring they are fulfilling their listed responsibilities and acting in accordance with all guidelines for their position as monitors of the show and activity areas.

Liaison with: Center Curator of Exhibitions, Curatorial Associate, front desk assistants, staff & management, general public, teachers, camp counselors and children and all visitors to the exhibitions.

Primary Function: To work in conjunction with the Center’s Curator of Exhibitions as well as all other related staff to insure that the logistics of exhibition: field trips, gallery exhibition areas, gallery monitors are all managed to run efficiently and safely.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate booking and follow-up of all field trip requests
  • Greet field trip buses, check in children and chaperones and give free guided tours of the exhibition to all field trips
  • Overseeing Gallery Monitors (volunteer and Work Force One staff)
  • Oversee LEGO activity area (working with Gallery Monitors)
  • Inspect and address tasks to ensure facility is ready for each day’s visitors
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.

Candidate Requirements:
Candidates will be in direct contact with members of the public, mainly with children and families. A person who possesses organization, authority, responsibility and ability to communicate articulately is required. Also, the person we are seeking should be an upbeat, high-energy individual. The candidate should work well as part of a team. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as general computing skills is required.

Advanced Musical Theatre Director

The Art and Culture Center is looking for an enthusiastic and creative musical theatre director to teach in our Broadway Actors Advanced Summer Arts Camp program. The director will introduce acting, music, dance, and technical techniques to students ages 12 to 18. With guidance, the director will create their own curriculum and will use a copyrighted production kit. The four week session runs from June 11 through July 8 and culminates in a full-scale musical theatre production of Fame, Junior on Saturday July 8. Monday through Friday, full day.

Qualifications and Qualities for Advanced Musical Theatre Director:
  • 3 or more years experience working with the specific age group and discipline for which you are applying. Experience directing youth musical productions a necessity. Certified teacher a plus but not required.
  • Punctual and reliable with attention to detail
  • Ability to interact positively with children, parents, and co-workers
  • Talent to make strict rehearsal schedule a fun, creative learning experience
  • Positive, strong classroom management
  • Must pass level 2 background check

Musical Theatre Choreographers

The Art and Culture Center is looking for enthusiastic and creative musical theatre choreographers with experience choreographing youth musical theatre productions. The right candidate will assist the director in teaching one of our Broadway Actors Summer Arts Camp programs. The choreographer will introduce acting and dance techniques to students ages 8 to 15 or 12 to 18, depending on the camp. Private Instructors

Voice, Piano, Violin, and Guitar Instructors for Private Instruction

The Art and Culture Center is looking for enthusiastic voice, piano, violin and guitar instructors to work with a new music program. Instructors will introduce variety of musical techniques during private or small group instruction. With guidance, instructors will create their own curriculum based on Sunshine State Standards.

Qualifications and Qualities for all teaching positions
  • 3 or more years experience working with the specific age group for which you are applying. Certified teacher a plus
  • Punctual and reliable with attention to detail
  • Ability to interact positively with children, parents, and coworkers
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
  • Positive and strong classroom management
  • Experience creating lesson plans and curriculum (incorporating Sunshine State Standards) for subject being taught
