Temporary Theater Assistant

Location: Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, Florida

Salary Range: $12-15 per hour. 16-20 hours per week. Evenings and weekends will be required. Position begins immediately through September 2010.

Liaison With: Art and Culture Center staff and management, general public, artists, volunteers, children, and vendors.

Reports To: Theater Manager

Primary responsibilities: Supervises box office, and all ticketing and front of house service needs of Art and Culture Center events and those occurring at Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center including: supervision of box office staff and operations, and coordinating event operations. Assists management in the administration of day to day operations as needed.

Duties

Box Office:

  • Act as box office supervisor during all ticketed events held at facility.
  • Assist with box office telephone orders; ensure the accuracy of transactions as well as positive customer relations.
  • Act as tier 1, box office technical support for all ticketed events to resolve seating, will-call, and online sales issues.
  • Responsible for all box office operations during events; coordinate with management, assessing and monitoring events in order to revise and update all ticketing services as needs change.
  • Operate all box office equipment where necessary.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Front of House:

  • Coordinate all front of house needs with Center and rental clients.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures for events occurring at HC-PAC.
  • Ensure clientele is satisfied with HC-PAC services and meet expectations.
  • Administer any last minute additional services in conjunction with the Technical director.

Administrative:

  • Front desk operator during working hours to answer basic inquiries and transfer calls as needed.
  • Distribute facility event calendar through established distribution lists.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the database of all individuals and organizations renting the facility.
  • Order office supplies as needed via the office supplies list posted.
  • Filing and other basic administrative duties.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will have a minimum of one year supervisory experience. Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel as well as Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows7 and ability to learn new software. The candidate should work well as part of a team and also be self-directed, punctual, dependable, and knowledgeable of the performing arts and cash handling control procedures. The candidate must have excellent organizational and administrative skills as well as an ability to work well with the public. Minorities and women are encouraged to apply. Youth Musical Theater Director and/or Choreographer

The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood is looking for a qualified director and a choreographer who has experience working with elementary (1st through 5th) and middle school (6th, 7th, and 8th grade) students. The rehearsals will be on Tuesdays and Thursday from 3:30-5:30 starting September and continuing through March. Some dress rehearsals close to show will be full day rehearsals during the week. Show will be presented the evening of March 15. Must be able to commit to the entire 7 month project. The salary will be project based and is competitive. Rehearsals take place at a private school in North Miami Beach.

Qualifications

  • 3 or more years experience directing/choreographing the specific age group (Elementary and Middle) for which you are applying. Certified teacher a plus
  • Punctual and reliable with attention to detail
  • Ability to interact positively and be diplomatic with children, parents, and coworkers
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
  • Positive and strict classroom management
  • Experience creating lesson plans and curriculum (incorporating Sunshine State Standards) for subject being taught
  • Must pass background check

Fall/Spring Instructor Positions

The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood is looking for dynamic, creative teachers to work with their upcoming programs. All positions are contractual with competitive salary.

Elementary and Middle Chorus/Voice Instructors

The Art and Culture Center is looking for enthusiastic and creative chorus instructors to work with a new music program. Instructors will introduce variety of vocal and musical techniques to grades 1-8. With guidance, instructors will create their own curriculum based on Sunshine State Standards. Each session culminates in a student performance.

Elementary, Middle and High Art Instructors

The Art and Culture Center is looking for enthusiastic and creative art instructors to teach our youth programs. Instructors will introduce variety of art techniques to grades 4-12. With guidance, instructors will create their own curriculum based on Sunshine State Standards. Each session culminates in a student exhibition.

Elementary Drama Instructors

The Art and Culture Center is looking for enthusiastic and creative drama instructors to teach our youth programs. Instructors will introduce variety of drama techniques to ages 6-12. With guidance, instructors will create their own curriculum based on Sunshine State Standards. Each session culminates in a production.

Musical Theatre Instructors- Directing, Dance, Music, and Tech

The Art and Culture Center is looking for enthusiastic and creative musical theatre instructors to teach a variety of youth programs on site and with outreach. Instructors will introduce variety of visual and performing art techniques to ages 8-15. With guidance, instructors will create their own curriculum based on Sunshine State Standards. Each session culminates in a full-scale production.

Beginner Piano and Guitar Instructors

The Art and Culture Center is looking for enthusiastic piano and guitar instructors to work with a new music program. Instructors will introduce variety of musical techniques during private or small group instruction. With guidance, instructors will create their own curriculum based on Sunshine State Standards.

Assistant Teachers

The Art and Culture Center is looking for enthusiastic and creative individuals to work with instructors of our various programs.

Nude Models for Figure Drawing Class

The Art and Culture Center is looking for male and female figure models to pose as a live nude model for our Drop-In Figure Drawing Classes every second Thursday of the month. All ages (21+) and body types are encouraged including pregnancy. Previous experience a plus, but may consider a beginner with a visual and/or performing arts background. Please apply with at least two recent, fully clothed body shots and resume.
