Gallery Supervisor/Tour Guide

Location: Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, Florida (ACCH)

Type: Temporary Summer Part-time Position, Hourly ($9.00 per hour)

Exhibition Period: June 7 – August 17, 2014

Hours: Monday – Friday 9:45am – 5:15pm Saturday & Sunday 11:45 – 5:15pm (this position will be split into two shifts to be divided between two qualified individuals — exact days to be worked to be determined)

Responsible For: This is a “kid-friendly” show, during which the Center expects to have very high numbers of attendance. The safety of all visitors to the show, as well as all staff and volunteers in addition to the works in the show, is of the utmost importance.

Overseeing the Center’s gallery areas; responding to and booking field trip requests in a timely fashion; organizing and overseeing “gallery monitor” volunteer staff, ensuring they are fulfilling their listed responsibilities and acting in accordance with all guidelines for their position as monitors of the show and activity areas.

Liaison With: Center Curator of Exhibitions, Visitor Services staff, administration staff & management, general public, teachers, camp counselors and children and all visitors to the exhibitions.

Primary Function: To work in conjunction with the Center’s Curator of Exhibitions as well as all other related staff to ensure the logistics of exhibition: field trips, gallery exhibition areas, gallery monitors are all managed to run efficiently and safely.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate booking and follow-up of all field trip requests
  • Greet field trip buses, check in children and chaperones and give guided tours of the exhibition to all field trips and to generally interact with visitors to the exhibition
  • Overseeing Gallery Monitors (volunteers)
  • Oversee LEGO activity area (working with Gallery Volunteers)
  • Inspect and address tasks to ensure facility is ready for each day’s visitors
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.

Candidate Requirements:
Candidates will be in direct contact with members of the public, mainly with children and families. A person who possesses organization, authority, responsibility and ability to communicate articulately is required. Also, the person we are seeking should be an upbeat, high-energy individual. The candidate should work well as part of a team. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as general computing skills is required. Manager of Theater Operations and Events

Location: Art and Culture Center of Hollywood, Florida (ACCH)

Responsible For:
Management of the Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center (HCPAC), special select events, and volunteer program

Salary Range: $30,000-$35,000 Full-time, with benefits

Reports To: Assistant Director

Liaison With: ACCH staff and management, clients, general public, artists, volunteers, children, teachers, vendors

Primary Function:
Supervises operational aspects of all events occurring at Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center as well as rental activity for the Center and some special events at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood galleries and Arts School. Also, supervises the volunteer program.

Duties:

  • Create and maintain a work environment which promotes teamwork, performance, feedback, recognition, mutual respect and employee satisfaction.
  • Ensure departmental practices are compliant with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Oversee daily operations of performing arts facility and facility staff.
  • Oversee the solicitation of new rental clients and relationships. Devise a marketing plan to expand reach. Answer inquiries for rentals as needed; Oversee the development and maintenance of database of all individuals and organizations renting the facility.
  • Act as lead supervisor of facility during all ACCH events held at HCPAC facility.
  • Act as liaison to the community, Hollywood Central Elementary School, School Board of Broward County, and City of Hollywood for use of HCPAC facility.
  • Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and reconciliation of facility rental contracts.
  • Coordinate operational requirements for events and communicate relevant event information to facility staff.
  • Continually assess and monitor events in order to revise and update all operational needs; develop, supervise and administer facility department budgets; ensure all production related deadlines and budget restrictions are met.
  • Oversee concessions including buying product, inventory and reconciliation of money.
  • Assess long-range and short-range capital improvements and maintenance for all production, office systems and equipment at HCPAC.
  • Maintain communication with elementary school maintenance personnel regarding repairs and maintenance of all school-owned equipment at HCPAC.
  • Purchase materials and equipment required to serve the operational needs of the HCPAC facility in conjunction with the Technical Director.
  • Operate house and box office equipment when necessary at HCPAC.
  • Maintain informational materials on all aspects of the facilities for distribution to current and potential clients.
  • Supervise follow up with rental clients before and after the event via verbal communication, email, surveys, etc. to receive feedback.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, and monitor custodial activities to ensure proper upkeep of HCPAC facility is maintained.
  • Recruit, train and supervise house, technical and box office management personnel as needed.
  • General office managerial duties. Monitor all HCPAC payroll records, labor budgets, bi-weekly time sheets and work schedules for all event personnel.
  • Lend support and direction to selected Center events. Work closely with staff to execute event strategy.
  • Supervise and implement the volunteer program. Supervise the recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteer staff for upcoming events and activities.
  • Verify all reports and submit to established departments.
  • Attend all necessary facility and staff related meetings.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years experience effectively managing operations of a facility, staff and events. Candidate must have sales and marketing experience and an ability to proactively solve problems with positive outcomes. Candidate should also possess the ability to multitask and work well with a variety of personalities while maintaining a positive attitude even in highly stressful or time sensitive situations. Excellent organizational, time management and administrative skills as well as an ability to work well with the public are also essential. A background in theater management or rental events is desirable. Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel and ability to learn new software programs is needed. The candidate should work well as part of a team and also be self-directed, conscientious, punctual, dependable, and organized.

The Art and Culture Center is looking for enthusiastic and creative Visual Art Instructors to work with our Littlest Artists Summer Arts Camp program. The instructor will introduce a variety of art techniques to students ages 4 and 5. With guidance, the instructor will create a curriculum based on State Standards. Each session culminates in a group sharing of the artworks. The two week session runs Monday through Friday, full day.

Qualifications and Qualities for all teaching positions
  • 3 or more years experience working with the specific age group and discipline for which you are applying. Experience with multiple arts disciplines a plus. Certified teacher a plus but not required
  • Punctual and reliable with attention to detail

The instructor will introduce a variety of art techniques to students ages 6 to 12. With guidance, the instructor will create a curriculum based on State Standards. Each session culminates in an exhibition. The two week session runs Monday through Friday, in the afternoon 1:00 pm- 4:00 pm.

Instructors will introduce a variety of drama techniques to ages 6 to 12. With guidance, instructors will create their own curriculum based on State Standards and a creative, original script. Each session culminates in a 30 minute production. The two week session runs Monday through Friday, in the morning 9:00 am- 12:00 pm.
