The Art and Culture Center’s internship program gives interns in-depth exposure to the workings of individual departments within a vibrant non-profit contemporary arts organization. Interns contribute to timely projects while working under the supervision of one of the Center’s professional staff. Internship projects are based on the organization’s needs and requirements and are assigned to interns with the appropriate skills and interests.
Youth Musical Theatre Choreographer Internship
Duties:
The Art and Culture Center is looking for an enthusiastic and creative musical theatre choreography intern who is interested in gaining experience assisting with choreography for a youth musical theatre production. This is a wonderful opportunity to intern with a great organization on an established project. The choreographer will introduce acting, and dance techniques, and group choreography to students ages 6 to 13 for the musical theatre production of Willy Wonka, Kids. Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30pm through early May 2013. Show will be presented the evening of May 3. Some dress rehearsals close to the show will be full day rehearsals during the week. Must be able to commit to the entire 6 month project. Rehearsals take place at a private school in North Miami Beach. A $500 stipend will be offered to help cover travel to rehearsal locations.
Qualifications and qualities for Youth Musical Theatre Choreographer Internship:
- Some experience choreographing the specific age group (Elementary and Middle) for which you are applying is a plus.
- Punctual and reliable with attention to detail
- Ability to interact positively and be diplomatic with children, parents, and coworkers
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
- Positive and strict classroom management
- Must pass background check

Arts Education / Arts Administration Internship
Liaison with: Art and Culture Center of Hollywood (ACCH) administrators and staff, students, parents, teachers, artists, the general public and other organizations.
Reports to: Assistant Director
Objective: Assisting with coordination of education operations, personnel and programming. This programming includes classes, after school programs, school partnerships, summer camps, workshops, community events and other special projects.
Schedule: 20+ hours a week depending on focus and requirements
Credit: School or volunteer credit
Duties:
- Assist with development, implementation, and supervision of comprehensive education programs. This work includes the development of integrated programs and curriculum between and across departments.
- Assist with registration for all classes and special programs. Help update thorough records of registration using Excel.
- Create and supervise the implementation of lesson plans for programming. Connect all curriculum to Sunshine State Standards.
- Recruit qualified teachers, artists, and assistants.
- Work with the ACCH management team to develop new and expand existing programs.
- Work with grant writing staff and Director of Education to provide ideas, scheduling, curriculum, and supplemental materials for funding opportunities.
- Work with PR department to promote education programs and services. Contact schools, families, and communities to promote existing and upcoming programs.
- Review written materials (press releases) relative to educational programming.
- Communicate with parents, schools, and the community about current and up coming educational opportunities and programs.
- Create and implement other educational opportunities that help support the mission of the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood.
- Perform other related duties incidental to the work described.

Public Relations Internship
Liaison With: Center staff & management, media, artists, general public, volunteers, and arts/education institutions.
Responsible For: Assisting with public relations activities for the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood and Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center.
Minimum Number of Hours per Week: 20
Reports To: Public Relations
Credit: School or volunteer credit
Research and Development:
- Researching info for press releases, PSAs, rack card/brochure copy and other promotional materials.
- Researching various cultural calendars and inputing Center events into them.
- Researching and updating media lists.
Correspondence:
- Writing press releases, PSAs, rack card/brochure copy and other promotional materials.
- Following up via phone/email with various media.
Coordination and Distribution:
- Creating press kits.
- Assisting with mailings.
- Faxing PSAs.
- Performing other tasks as needed.
Candidate Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of public relations principles. Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, internet access and AP style. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills needed. Proper phone etiquette required. The candidate should work well as part of a team and also be self-directed, punctual, dependable, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable of the performing, visual arts, and/or education. The candidate must have excellent organizational and administrative skills as well as an ability to work well with the public. Oral and written bilingual (Spanish) skills a plus.

Outreach Internship

Objective: Coordination of outreach activities for the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood and Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center.
Minimum Number of Hours per Week: 16

Duties:
Research and Development
- Researching and contacting possible target audiences/locations for distribution of e-blasts and collateral materials.
- Working with department heads to develop distribution timelines.
- Distributing materials.
Correspondence
- Email and phone targeted entities to build relationships for distribution.
Coordination and Distribution
- Coordinate outreach efforts for all Art and Culture Center of Hollywood and Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center programming.
- Schedule outreach distribution in line with public relations and marketing efforts.
- Performing other tasks as needed.

Special Events Coordinator Internship
Location: Art and Culture Center of Hollywood
Responsible For: Assisting with coordination of activities and special events for the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood
Liaison With: Center staff and management, board, event committees, general public, vendors, volunteers, and community partners.
Hours per Week: Minimum eight hours per week, flexible schedule.
Reports To: Administrative and Development Manager
Research and Development:
- Research, confirm and update contact information accurately for donors.
- Research and add new businesses in the region and acquire correct contact
information. - Build and maintain relationships with other organizations for distribution and
possibly exchange of e-blasts and/or materials.
Correspondence:
- Write copy for promotional materials.
- Write professional correspondence.
- Follow up via phone/email with donors and sponsors.
- Mail merge of donor list and request letters.
- Follow up with confirmation and details for donations as needed.
- Follow up with thank you correspondence as needed.
Coordination and Distribution:
- Organize fundraisers and special events in conjunction with the Administrative and Development Manager.
- Assist with mailings.
- Perform other tasks as needed.
Candidate Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a basic understanding of marketing and public relations principles. Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, mail merges and email. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed. Diplomatic phone etiquette required. The candidate should work well as part of a team and also be self-directed, punctual, dependable, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented. Candidate must have excellent organizational and administrative skills as well as an ability to work well with the public. Working knowledge of the performing arts, visual arts, and/or education would be considered a plus.

Exhibitions Department Support

Objective: Assisting curator of exhibitions with various activities pertaining to the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood’s Contemporary visual arts programming.

Duties:
Research and Development
- Gathering information as pertains to scheduling and/or specific project development.
- Assist in creating databases for upcoming exhibitions and special projects.
- Administrative assistance, filing, creating comprehensive project folders, etc.
Correspondence
- Assist with correspondence to artists and others in relation to exhibitions and special projects.
Exhibition and Special Events Support
- Assist during preparation of exhibitions and events (does not include installation of artworks).
- Staff support during openings and other special gallery related events and projects.
Candidate Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and internet access. Excellent interpersonal skills and proper phone etiquette required. The candidate should work well as part of a team and also be self-directed, punctual, dependable, enthusiastic, and reasonably knowledgeable of the visual arts. The candidate must have excellent organizational and administrative skills as well as an ability to work well with the public.

Development Department Internship
Liaison With: ACCH Director of Development and office staff
Reports To: Director of Development
Objective: Working with the Director of Development to research and write grant proposals submitted to public and private organizations
Minimum Number of Hours per Week: 16
Duties:
- Identifying potential funding sources through online research
- Compiling research data for program proposals
- Assisting with proposal packages, which include composing a cover letter, writing proposal narrative, and assembling support materials.
Candidate Requirements:
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Strong research, organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to manage time efficiently, multi-task, and work well with entire staff, including marketing and education departments, and Curator of Exhibitions
- Proficiency with MS Office, including Word and Excel.

The successful candidate will gain practical, hands-on experience in grant writing and developing fund-raising strategies for a major arts organization.

Theater Marketing Intern
Location: Hollywood Central Performing Arts Center, Florida (HC-PAC)
Liaison With: ACCH staff & management, general public, clients, artists, vendors
Reports To: Manager of Theater Operations and Events
Minimum Number of Hours per Week: 12
Primary Function:
- Coordinates and assists in the development of the marketing campaign for HC-PAC.
- Assist with clerical and administrative duties as needed. Work in collaboration with the Theater Manager in the overall marketing and PR campaign for HC-PAC, Art and Culture Center Galleries, and Arts School.
- Contact clients to discuss their experience and how we might improve services. Maintain and expand the HC-PAC email list and social media presence.
- Document events in each facility for social media updates and marketing materials. Some general filing and clerical work as needed.
Candidate Requirements:
The successful candidate will have general marketing knowledge and strong familiarity with social media (facebook, twitter, linkedin, youtube, etc). Marketing or public relations students preferred. The candidate should work well as part of a team and also be self-directed, punctual, dependable, and knowledgeable of the performing arts a plus. The candidate must have excellent organizational and administrative skills as well as an ability to work well with the public. Knowledge of applicable software and applications: PowerPoint, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign a strong plus.
