Call to Artists: Gator Glam
Note: Submissions are no longer being accepted for Gator Glam.
The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood and Sawgrass Mills invite artists to participate in this juried art exhibition.
Artists will submit sketches of their design concept that will transform 7-foot tall fiberglass alligators into a work of art, giving each figure its own unique identity in an array of palettes. A selection committee will choose a minimum of 20 proposals.

Ribbons and prizes will be presented as follows:
- Best in Show ($500)
- 1st Place ($350)
- 2nd Place ($200)
- 3rd Place ($100)
The finished sculptures will be on display throughout The Colonnade Outlets at Sawgrass Mills from October 4 (the official 20th anniversary of Sawgrass Mills) through October 28, 2010. On October 7th, an auction event will take place benefitting the Art and Culture Center.
The submission deadline for artists has been extended to Friday, July 23, 2010.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are artists responsible for?
Artists are only responsible for transportation of the alligator sculptures as well as the cost of materials used to decorate the sculpture. Artists are NOT responsible for creating the alligator sculptures; these are pre-molded and will all look identical.
What size are the alligators?
They will be around 7 feet tall. They are being fabricated on the basis of the sketch above.
What are they made of, and what is the surface texture like?
They will be molded from fiberglass, with a plug at the top and bottom which will allow them to be filled with sand. The surface will be mostly smooth.
