David Almeida Awarded West Prize
Recent Project Room artist David Almeida was recently awarded the West Prize, a prize given to international young artists who are creating challenging and inventive work. Almeida was one of 10 artists chosen from over 2,100 artists from 78 countries.
The work that was on view is part of a larger series entitled Natural Selection, a term borrowed from Charles Darwin denoting the theory of evolution. The artist, David Almeida, has spent the last few years exploring the ideas of artificiality and replication, and how these concepts are a reflection of contemporary culture.
