Fourth All-Media Juried Biennial

Closing reception and film screening, Closing Time by Tony Kapel and live musical performance by Oly and Jesse Jackson. Friday, June 5, 6-9 pm, free for members, $10 non-members.
The Fourth All-Media Biennial exhibition will include original paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, photography, video, computer-generated images, site-specific installations, and performance art from Florida-based artists who are selected for participation by juror Nina Arias, a New York-based independent curator who is formerly from Miami.
There will be six award-winners: Best in Show ($2,000 prize); First Place ($1,000 prize); Second Place ($600 prize); Third Place ($400 prize); and Two Honorable Mentions.

The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood is pleased to present a screening of the newly released film Closing Time by 33-year-old, Miami-based Tony Kapel. The film includes segments on various artists such as Pepe Mar and Aramis Gutierrez (both who are included in this year’s Biennial) as well as the TM Sisters, Jon Peck, Jen Stark, and other Miami artists. Kapel also brought his video camera into venues such as PS14, Studio A and Churchill’s to shoot local bands and performers such as Fantome, Oly, Rachel Goodrich, and Jesse Jackson. Kapel’s own band Mod’lone is also featured in the film.
Film will be continuously screened starting at 6 pm until 9 pm in the upstairs gallery. Running time 83 minutes. Live musical performance by Oly and Jesse Jackson at 8 pm in main gallery.
This event will celebrate the closing of the Fourth All-Media Juried Biennial, which attracted a record of 314 Florida-based artists who submitted nearly 900 works of art.
Cost: Free for members, $10 for non-members.
D.I.Y. Bookmaking Workshop

In conjunction with the Fourth All-Media Juried Biennial, the Art and Culture Center will offer a D.I.Y. Bookmaking Workshop organized by Gean Moreno noted artist, curator, writer and founder of [NAME] Editions. The workshop takes place at the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood Sat., May 30, 2009 from 1 to 4 pm. Click here for more information.
