sARTurDAYS - Adult Art Classes

After a busy week, we all need a special place to decompress and explore. Join us for one class, or stay for a full day of creativity, inspiration, and relaxation. You can use the break between classes to grab a bite, or take a stroll through downtown Hollywood. All of us at The Art and Culture Center of Hollywood strive to create opportunities for you to experience the arts, and we look forward to seeing you at the center soon!
Drawing from Life
This course will teach the beginner, as well as reinforce the experienced artist, to interpret our 3-D world onto a 2-D surface. You will learn a new way of drawing, starting with how to “see” the world around you. Regardless of which specific type of art you prefer creating, this course will prepare you with a strong foundation. Each day we will venture through new exercises, building confidence in your drawing skills. Emphasis will be on drawing from life. Students have the option of participating in a group exhibition in April.
Instructor Ruth Jatib O’Connor recently returned to South Florida after traveling and living in Northern Tuscany, the Eastern United States, and Maui. It was in Florida that she began her interest in the visual arts, with explorations in drawing, oil painting and photography. Her formal training was at the Maryland Institute College of Art, and her teaching style adapts classical methods with a modern direction. For more information about O’Connor, please visit her website: ruthjatib.com.
